Nathan & Corinne’s Confederation Park Wedding
Red Bloom Photography
It is hard not to sound repetitive about how amazing and great my weddings are but my couples
really are amazing! I always feel so lucky to have such trusting amazing clients.
I knew these two and this day would be amazing from the moment I met them, not cause
they are super cute together and are so sweet but because they were getting married on my wedding
anniversary! Wedding anniversaries are a big deal so if I am going to work on it I want to make sure
I am doing something amazing and spending the day with these two was absolutely perfect!
What made it even more perfect was that my husband who is starting to shoot video also shot
it so it was a wedding anniversary for the books!
This day was all smiles and laughter and sunshine…lots of sun ha ha! The morning was spent
laughing with friends and then we headed to the park for the first look! I just love that more and
more couples are choosing to do a first look these days! They are just so special cause you can hug
and kiss and laugh and it just takes some stress away from the ceremony to see each other
privately ahead of time. After their ceremony we headed back to the park for some more quick
photos before making our way to The Baron for their intimate reception. The low lighting and the
intimate setting was just perfect for their reception, the food was amazing and the speeches were
hilarious. The best best best speeches are ones that everyone can connect to.
Enough from me, lets hear from the newlyweds.
How did you guys meet?
We met at Capstone Church two years ago, where Nathan was working as a
pastor. We didn’t really speak much for a few months until Nathan taught a
baptism class for Corinne and decided she was too cute to not ask out on a date!
Please share the proposal story with us?
Nathan had planned a trip out to Lake Minnewanka for us to go skating. It was a
complete surprise – Corinne had no idea it was coming! Unfortunately it was
such a warm December that the lake wasn’t frozen, so we couldn’t go skating.
Nathan spontaneously decided we would go up the gondola on Sulphur Mountain
and it was at the top of the mountain that he popped the question!
(We actually did their engagement session at Lake Minnewanka) I tagged it below!
Most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Bride: The moments leading up to the first look, and then the first look. I was so
nervous I remember thinking I was gonna pass out on the car ride over to the
park, but as soon as I saw Nathan and got to be with him all the nerves were
gone and I was so relaxed! Those little moments together on our big day were so
special to me.
Groom: I think the first look was the most memorable moment for me as well. I
remember waiting for her to come down the hill to where I was, and just getting to
spend those few moments where I was waiting in reflecting, thinking back on our
relationship to this point, as well as anticipating seeing her, experiencing our
wedding, and just taking it all in.
Tell me about the special aspects of your day that made it unique to you two?
We had a big wooden board made with three strands of rope attached, along
with the Bible verse Ecclesiastes 4:12 written on it, to represent our faith in Christ
as the foundation in our marriage. After signing the registry we braided the rope
together on stage and now we are going to hang it up in our home to remind us
of our wedding day and our commitment to one another!
Besides making the choice to marry each other, what was the easiest decision
you made for your wedding? What made it so easy?
Picking our wedding party was an easy decision – we both have amazing friends
who we were honoured to have stand next to us on our wedding day, and we
both knew right away who we wanted those people to be!
What was the most difficult, time consuming choice that you made for your
wedding day? And advice to couples on this?
Finalizing our guest list took a long time for us. It was difficult to narrow our list
down to a number that was both realistic given our budget but also included
everyone we wanted to invite. There were people that we really love and
consider to be good friends that we weren’t able to invite to our reception
because of the size of our venue and the budget we were working with. Our
advice would be: understand that there will be difficult decisions when it comes to
making your guest list, and that people will be understanding of that.
Advice to couples planning their wedding day?
Don’t get caught up in comparing your wedding day to your friends, or what you
see online! Things like Pinterest can be so helpful and also so dangerous,
because it’s easy to compare your day against a thousand others online. Your
wedding day will be fun and amazing no matter what, because your friends and
family love you and are there to celebrate with you.
Enjoy your time as an engaged couple/the time you spend planning your
wedding together. Remember to take time for date nights where you don’t have
to talk about or think about wedding plans. Remember that, ultimately, the goal is
to be planning for your marriage, not only for your wedding. We were really
fortunate to have some great couples who are a few years ahead of us in their
marriage who reminded us of that, and made sure to have conversations with us
about preparing for a lifelong marriage.

How fun is this idea? The had this out for morning of so everyone could take some cute picsI just adore first looks! They are so sweet! Right after their first look Corinne gifted Nathan his wedding band. He had not seen it yet. Absolutely love these bouquets! This is such an amazing and unique idea for guests to highlight their favorite Bible Verse. After their ceremony we snuck back to the park for 15 minutes of images as a newly married couple! This was a fun way to end the evening!
