How did you hear about RBP? 

I heard about RBP via Instagram; I believe someone I follow had posted on his or her story a

boudoir photo and so I got curious and went to check out the Insta page.

Why did you book a boudoir session?

It is something that I have always wanted to do for myself so I decided to commit to it and

go ahead with booking. I wanted beautiful photos to remember me by in the future before

having kids. It has been a bucket list item for myself for years.

Do you remember what drew you to Monica’s style?

The first time I went to Calgary Boudoir on Insta I fell in love with all the photos; I just loved

the modern and natural look of all the photos. The poses were all beautiful, the tushy Tuesday

is a lot of fun and there were all kinds of women, which made me feel welcomed in a way. I don’t know

very much about photography terms and editing but the mood and lightning of all the photos

really spoke to me. At first when I thought boudoir I always thought about the pin-up style with

accessories and what not and I never really thought that was my thing so when I came across

Monica’s photos I got so excited because it was more fitting with what I liked. The décor is

simple and modern, the outfits are dainty and beautiful and everything just comes together so

beautifully making the person in the photo look stunning.

How did you feel leading up to the session? 

I was so excited, I couldn’t’ stop talking about it and trying to plan outfits. I was also nervous

because it was a new experience that was very personal and slightly intimidating.

There was a bunch of new experiences that came with the session such as a Brazilian wax

and a full on nude spray tan so I had some prepping done in terms of being exposed ahaha.

I was so indecisive about outfits; it felt like 3 wasn’t enough but we figure it all out the day of the session.

I had a lot of fun planning everything out, anticipating and prepping for the session. I am horrible

at keeping secrets so it was incredibly hard for me to keep outfit ideas and inspirations

from my fiancé; I was so proud that I didn’t slip up!

How did you feel during the session? 

I felt great during the session; I was excited, content and confident. I was so happy about

my hair and makeup too! I felt well prepared with all the information that Monica

provided beforehand. I was a little bit nervous but way more excited. Monica made

me feel at ease from the moment of first contact in our emails so naturally when I got

there the day of I felt comfortable. Sammy is also adorable!! The studio is beautiful and

I loved the personal touch with my name on the letter board. Since covid rules were a

thing Monica made sure everything was sanitized and she wore a mask as well which normally

would probably be weird but nope! I was very happy that she helped me pick out my

outfits; I showed up with a bag full of outfits and we were able to narrow it down

and also chose an item from the client closet; which is amazing by the way!!

How did seeing your final images make you feel?

I was over the moon about the final photos; it was so difficult narrowing down the

photos and making a final decision; it definitely took a couple days! I was so excited to

show my fiancé and pick the photos together. I wasn’t originally going to get an album

but the photos were so amazing that I felt I had to do them justice and get an album

to show them off. No regrets! The photos were everything I had hoped for from my boudoir session.

If this was for a gift, what did your significant other day about your photos? did they have a favorite

pose or outfit?  If it was a gift to yourself did you have a favorite pose, image or area of the studio?

I think for myself the moody corner was my favourite and the green chair coming into

a close second. I absolutely love the poses against the wall with and without the sheet by the window

in the main studio and the moody corner. It’s so hard to narrow down I had to go back and look at the

photos again! I also loved that Monica came up with creative poses with my accessory

of choice, which were drumsticks; it turned out so good!

My fiancé loved the photos, he knew I was going for a session but he had no idea with what

outfits so he was very surprised. He loved the booty shots and the shots where I had the drumsticks.

What would you say to friends thinking about doing a boudoir session?

I would say that it is an absolute must do at one point in your life; it is such an amazing experience.

It is 100% worth the investment. It is a confidence booster, it’s empowering and I found it a lot of

fun to plan out and get pampered leading up to the session.
