Saskatoon Wedding Photographer
Erick & Stephanie’s Western Development Museum
& University of Saskatchewan Wedding Day
Red Bloom Photography
As a wedding photographer I feel deeply honored to get to tell the story
of couples weddings with my photos. And when those couples are
people that I am deeply connected to…well there is no greater
honor then that for me in my business. I was beaming with joy when my little
and very beautiful cousin Stephanie got engaged to her handsome high school
sweetheart Erick. I pretty much immediately started to think about being
a part of their wedding. I knew that their style and their adventurous souls
were the perfect fit for my photography. But I learned very early in my
business that photography is a art and therefor it is subjective so I told
myself not to take it personal if they chose someone else. And this is a big
lesson for anyone starting out in the field. Do not take it personal if a friend
or family member does not chose you. It could be style and it also could be
that some people prefer not to mix business with pleasure and some people
would prefer for you to enjoy their day as a guest and not working. I waited
patiently for them to ask and when they did I did the biggest happy dance!!!
Like so so excited to get to tell this wedding story with my photos. Erick and Stephanie
got married at St. Philip Neri Parish and they had their reception at the
Western Development Museum. We did all of their photos at the University
of Saskatchewan. And for those of you who don’t know, I actually attended
the University of Saskatchewan for 6 years getting a degree in Kinesiology and
Education…I am a retired PE teacher. Well Erick & Stephanie both attended the
University of Saskatchewan as well and they knew how stunning the campus
was so they suggested we go there for photos. And the campus did not disappoint.
We started in a nice garden and then moved into the central area of the campus and
took photos in front of one of the stunning brick Res buildings.
I am not going to lie, I teared up a few times on this wedding day, and smiled
until my cheeks hurt. I loved all the speeches and how my Aunty mentioned how
proud Stephanie’s dad would be of the man she chose to marry and how everyone
talked about how hard working and driven this power couple it. But i have to
say the funniest speech was when Erick’s mom said
“when your son marries the girl whos big sister is the childhood best friend
of his sisters husband…you might be a redneck!” read that three times
to figure it out! Man everyone laughed so hard.
Here are some words from Erick & Stephanie
Most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Bride: Reading the thoughtful note and opening the personal gift from Erick.
It was a chance to settle down for a few minutes and really take in the loved ones
around me and the fact that I was about to marry the love of my life.
Groom: I will never forget the look on Stephanie’s face as she walked down
the isle as that was the only thing I could look at. It wasn’t really until after the
ceremony that I realized what Stephanie’s wedding dress actually looked like.
Tell me about the special aspects of your day that made it unique to you two?
Special family touches. Our photographer and our florist are the bride’s cousins
and the rehearsal dinner was prepared by aunts and uncles. It was very special to
have their extra special touches on the day. (yay…shout out to ME! ha ha)
Advice to couples planning their wedding day?
Step away from your guests and the party for at least 15 minutes just the two of you to
reflect on the day and enjoy each other’s company. We spent this time walking
around Boomtown at our reception venue, the Western Development Museum.
And here is Erick & Stephanie’s Wedding Story….
