Bryce & Sarah’s Intimate Backyard Wedding
Red Bloom Photography
I will say it again and again and if you follow me and my work you will know this about me.
I am a huge sucker for a rustic farm/acreage wedding! I grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan and
surprisingly enough we did not have our own farm wedding so I think I live this farm wedding
dream through my couples. When I first met Sarah at our consult we were an instant match.
As she told me about their plans to get ready at the same house and have an outdoor ceremony
at Fish Creek Park followed by a tent reception at Bryce’s parents farm I just sat there
falling more and more in love with their wedding day. She was just so darn cute too and so
laid back and I love me a laid back couple! These two opted not to do an engagement session
so the first time I met Bryce was the day of the wedding. I pulled up to the acreage where they
were getting ready and this handsome cowboy practically sprints over to greet me and my
second shooter. Just warm and welcoming from the second he saw us and that greeting
was extended to us by every single person at the house that morning. I have to say that
I just love when couples get ready in the same space. There is a few reasons for this and the
number one is that for a number of reasons I will be shooting most of my weddings solo
from now on but the other main reason is I love the dynamic and the energy of having
the boys and girls under one roof. Sarah got her makeup done in the master bathroom
and then we took turns using the living room space for the bride & the groom to get
dressed. I almost always have my brides get dressed in the living room because most
master bedrooms don’t have a big open space so the bride is jammed between the bed and wall
or bed and TV type of thing. And this living room was stunning with a giant window and stone
fireplace. After the two of them sneakingly got dressed without seeing each other we moved
outside for a first look and man this was so cute, Bryce teared up and Sarah grabbed his bum.
This is totally something that my husband and I would do, he tends to be the mushy one and
I lean a little to the silly side ha ha. From there we went to Fish Creek Park for some photos
and ran into several other weddings while we were there and then we headed to their
ceremony. It started to rain as we got to the ceremony site but everyone was prepared with
umbrellas so there was nothing but smiles. After the ceremony they took me to a family
property and we did some photos there….with about one million mosquitos as well! Probably
the worst that I have ever seen. So it was snap snap snap as quick as possible and back
to the limo. Alright enough blabbing from me. Here are some words from this awesome couple.
How did you meet?
We met through Bryce’s best man Ryan Olson almost 6 years ago. Ryan and I became friends spring of 2010,
which I met Bryce that same summer.
