Justin & Nadine’s Canyon Ski Resort Wedding

So very excited to share this beautiful September wedding at Canyon Ski Resort. I have always heard

that this venue is beautiful and it did not disappoint at all.  But this day was so much more then a

pretty venue it was all about family and friend connections and the crazy love these two have for

each other and the people around them. The day was full of tears right from the bride getting into her

dress to the ceremony and of course their speeches left so many in tears.  One thing that did not have

tears was Nadine’s first look with her dad cause he saw her and then immediately took a selfie with her which

I guess is a thing he does and it was so great! Nadine touches on what happened after their first look below.

I was going to write a lot about their day but they put everything so beautifully below. Please take a

minute to read about how sentimental and special their day was to them.

Here are some words from the newlyweds ...

How did you guys meet?
Nadine – “I went to a mechanic shop to get my car repaired, and ended up applying for the receptionist position.
When I started working there Justin didn’t talk to me until he was offered up by our bosses to start driving me
home after work. He was SO shy it took him forever, but I thought it was really sweet.”

Justin – “Yeah, our formal introduction wasn’t until a few months after she already started working
there and we grabbed coffee when I was driving her home. I was really nervous.”

Please share the proposal story with us?

Nadine – “It was my 24th birthday, and we went for this amazing dinner with my family. After dinner
Justin told them we’d meet them back at the house for drinks and that we were
going to go for a walk by the river first.
We went through a trail down to the river and then it just started pouring rain. I turned around to tell Justin
we should go and he was on one knee, in the mud, in the pouring rain telling me how I was his best friend.
He’s incredible at monumental speeches. We got back to the house completely drenched and sobbing, as
soon as we walked in the door everyone either flipped out of started bawling too haha.
It was a very memorable birthday.”
Justin – “It was nerve-racking. There’s almost a weird fear that she’s going to say no even though
you know she’s going to say yes. It’s not every day you do something like that. It’s not everyday
you know you’re going to spend the rest of your life with your best friend.”

Most memorable moment from your wedding day?

Nadine – “There’s honestly a lot of them. Our wedding was insanity. But there was so much that made it
sentimental. Having a heart to heart with my dad before going to the ceremony. My girls all singing
“Going to the Chapel” all morning. Our daughter holding our hands when we said our vows.
Having my grandparents there. Having everyone I love most in one place.”
Justin – “All of what she said, but for me it was hands down watching her walk down the isle.
I was sweating bullets, but I focused on her and knew everything was going to be fine.”
Can you share the story behind the details that you put into your day to make it special to you two?

Nadine – “My family was a huge part in our day putting everything together, and they always
make every event so meaningful so even planning the wedding was amazing and so sentimental.
Having our daughter as the flower girl, our close friends son as the ring bearer, our closest group of friends
and family in our bridal party, my comically hilarious cousins as the MC’s and ushers, all of it
made for every single aspect of our wedding to be completely unique and special. When we were
planning we included a lot of little details such as the signature drinks, pies instead of cake, a cigar
bar for Justin, hollowed out books for card holders because me and Justin love to read, my
Opa’s typewriter, vintage film camera’s from my uncle, etc. But what really blew us away though was
all the unplanned ones that came along that day, like how emotional everyone was after the ceremony,
the slideshow my sister put together, everyones speeches, and honestly just how much effort,
support and love everyone put into the day just put it over the top.
Tell me about the special aspects of your day that made it unique to you two?
Nadine – “My something old was a piece of my mom’s wedding dress attached to my bouquet, something
borrowed was a pearl necklace from my Oma, something blue was a sapphire ring my dad
gave to my mom when I was born, and my something new was these gorgeous
diamond earrings as a wedding gift from my grandparents.
I also had a locket on my bouquet that had a picture of my grandpa Vernon, and my parents best
friend Johnny because I really loved the idea of them taking that walk down the isle with
me and my dad. The song meand my dad danced to was a song my grandpa used to sing
to my mom, and the song Justin and his mom danced to was a song she used to sing to him when
he was little, so that was really special too. There were so many parts of that day that were so meaningful.”
Advice to couples planning their wedding day?
Nadine – “Make your bridal party, your parents and anyone else a part of your day get together
as often as possible to do fun things. Planning a wedding with these people really bonds you,
and having them there actually having a good time makes planning way more fun.
If you want something specific, and done a certain way then plan it so early you think
it might be too early, and double check it seven times, because you don’t have the time you think
you do, and something is going to not go the way you want it to.
When we got together for the rehearsal, we were so exhausted from decorating, and not prepared at all to
have this fancy dinner we had thought we’d end up having, so we ordered a million pounds of take out,
and half our neighbourhood and extended family ended up coming. Our rehearsal dinner was by far one of
the funnest time’s we’ve all gotten together in a long time, so be open to things not working out as you’d
planned. They’ll most likely end up being better.”

Justin – “A year is not enough time, and what you think it’s going to cost double it. Take all the
time in the world, and enjoy it. Lastly, it’s not about the stuff, it’s about who you’re spending
that day with. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”
