Joel & Katie’s Fish Creek Park Winter Engagement Session

There is something a little different about this Fish Creek Park Winter Engagement Session.

It is something that I was not sure that I was going to talk about but here we are ha ha.

This session was shot just days after COVID restrictions hit Calgary area. It was before we

were really shut down as the parks were still open. I had a big chat with my couple and how

the session would look in terms of distance and we decided to go ahead with the session. It

was a little strange to walk 2m ahead and to the side of them, it was very different for me to not be about to

get as close to assist with posing but other then that absolutely nothing was different. I am

not a super up close and personal photographer. I shoot mostly with my 85mm lens which

allows me to keep back.  So overall the session was almost normal but I will admit my throat

was a little sore the next day from talking so loud. It is one thing to talk to someone 2m apart and

beside you but totally different when you area ahead of them on a path as sound travels

differently. So there was a little bit if shouting but no big deal.

Photographers have been allowed to work outside with distance all through this time but

most chose not to as locations were closed down for access so most photographers took time off. 

I personally postponed my sessions for a

couple months and spent my days at home building a new website, working on blogging and

spending all of my time with our dog Sammy! He did not complain at all about the extra cuddle. Now

that we have a new normal, I am back to work. Things look a bit different but we adjust and we

move forward with life…even if that looks different.

These two had to postpone their 2020 wedding. I am a little sad to have to wait an extra 11 months for

their day but I look forward to capturing their Canmore Wedding in 2021.
